The minutes from the June meeting were approved.
July 24, Mike took 10 browns and 1 rainbow and on July 29, he took 4 browns.
Leonard caught 5 browns in late June.
Don reported a balance of $10,610.67. We netted $1,047.00 for our fiscal year.
All required reports for the Indiana Gaming Commission have been completed.
Mike is working on articles for the summer newsletter. He also has some pictures for our web site from some of our work projects.
Brandon stated that we need to renew our contract for hosting our web site. It was decided to renew for two years.
CR 43 Project
We had approximately 25 volunteers show up for our CR 43 project. Mike stated that we are about 75% complete and we will schedule another work date next year to complete it. The permits are sutill in effect as long as we keep doing work on the site.
LECTU Work Days
June 30th – We had three volunteers to cut a trail on Hoover’s property. Also, several half logs were installed in the meadow.
July 28th – We had four volunteers for a work project at the Foundation Hole.
August 4th – We had two volunteers to complete the work at the Foundation Hole.
September 15th – We will be doing a project at Barking Dog. This will involve moving some logs so the more volunteers, the better. Mike said that Steve Mack will bring several guys from Cabelas.
Middlebury Youth Fishing
This event will be held this Saturday, August 11th. We have been asked again to assist the event as judges. Volunteers are Mike, Court, Lee and possibly Tom. The fishing contest is from 9 AM to 11 AM. We need to be there at 8:30 AM. Please bring a measuring device.
The date of the Riverfest is August 18th. We will have a booth and help the Park Dept. with a couple of their activities. Don will get a check for $50 to Leonard as a donation. Volunteers are Mike, Lee, Leonard and possibly Don.
Court reported that he spoke with Tom Enright about the River Watch program. Tom stated that he was behind on this and planned a sampling for last Thursday. Court would like to take this project over. It would require two people for one hour for each sampling.
Mike received a book from TU titled “My Healthy Stream”. He stated it is well written and he would like to order additional copies to give out to the Little Elkhart property owners in addition to Dar Deagan, Tom Enright, the head of the Middlebury Parks Dept., and others. It was greed to order a case of 40 books at a cost of $120. The books retail for $9.00 each.
Mike also received a letter from TU urging our chapter to support the efforts to stop the Pebble Mine project in Bristol Bay, Alaska. It was decided to support TU’s effort.
Indiana on the Fly is scheduled for January 5, 2013. The cost is the same as last year, which is $200 for the booth plus $5 for additional chairs.
Everett Drake Dissolution – In the past, there was a ghost chapter in Indiana called the Everett Drake Chapter that had Indiana TU members assigned to that were not assigned to any other TU chapter in the state. TU wants to dissolve this ghost chapter and divide those members between Central Indiana TU and LECTU. Mike will propose to Central Indiana TU that we take everything North of I-70 and they take everyone South of I-70.
Elections are scheduled for the September meeting. The Director that is coming off the board is Wayne Andrews.
Lee stated that he will not be at the September meeting and will need someone to take meeting minutes. Leonard said he will volunteer if he is able to make the meeting.
